Warriors get top-5 sweep on the road

Popularville, MS - In a thrilling top-5 matchup, the No. 4 Diamond Warriors triumphed over No. 2 Pearl River Community College, securing a two-game sweep. This victory marked the end of Pearl River's twenty-nine-game win streak and elevated the Warriors' overall record to an impressive 42-4, with an 18-4 record in conference play.

Game One

The Warriors scored two runs in the third inning after Marvin Jackson homered to left field for his first home run of the season.

Mo Little homered to left field on a fly ball in the seventh.

Lezcano went over five innings with four ks and only three hits, earning the win. The Warrior's arms allowed only three hits and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four. Thomas Crabtree, the starting pitcher for Pearl River Community College, put up a strong fight, going six innings and surrendering only two runs on four hits, striking out six and walking none. Bryson Goff, another key player for EC Warriors, collected the save, while Kamryn Carlisle pitched one inning of no-run ball in relief, surrendering zero hits, striking out one, and walking none.

Jackson, the Warriors' number eight hitter, hit a two-run shot that got the Warriors on the board.

They went 1-for-2 on the day. Liam Gilbert, Reid Hall, Jackson, Little, and Brady McGee each collected one hit for EC Warriors. EC

Bryce Fowler led Pearl River Community College with two hits in five at-bats from the leadoff position. Caston Thompson went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in.

Game Two

The Warriors were the first to get on the board in the first when Barret Rodgers doubled, scoring one run.

Pearl River Community College scored on a passed ball, which helped Pearl River Community College tied the game at one in the bottom of the second.

The Warrior bats flipped the game in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on one hit to take a 6-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Mo Little that drove in two.

Luke Cooley earned the win for the EC Warriors. The southpaw surrendered one hit and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking five. JP Robertson took the loss for Pearl River Community College. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on one hit, striking out six and walking two. Parker Martin tossed one inning of no-run ball for EC Warriors in relief.
The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Little drove the middle of the lineup, leading EC Warriors with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-2 on the day. Rodgers led EC Warriors with two hits in three at-bats. East Central stole three bases in the game.

The Warriors will welcome Holmes Community College to Clark/Gay on Saturday.
