Warriors Sweep Meridian to Extend Conference Dominance

Decatur,MS--The East Central Community College baseball team continued its impressive run through MACCC play, sweeping Meridian Community College in a home doubleheader on April 9 in Decatur.

In game one, the Warriors dominated from start to finish in a 12-2 victory. ECCC pounded out 12 hits, including a three-run home run by Pablo Roque, who finished with four RBIs. Ryan Nelson went 2-for-2 with three walks, three runs, and an RBI, while Barret Rodgers drove in two more. Bryson Goff improved to 8-0 on the mound, allowing just three hits and one earned run across 5.2 innings of work. The Warriors broke the game wide open with six runs in the sixth inning and added three more insurance runs in the final two frames to seal the win.

The nightcap proved to be a slugfest early on, with East Central overcoming a six-run deficit to earn an 11-6 comeback victory. John Lewis was the offensive hero, launching two home runs and driving in three runs. Ryan Nelson again delivered a strong performance, reaching base four times and tallying three RBIs, while Jayden Adcox added two more. East Central used five pitchers, with Marbin Lezcano earning the win after striking out four in 1.1 innings of relief.

The sweep lifts East Central to 34-8 overall and strengthens their position atop the MACCC standings.
