Tyler Harris joined the ECCC coaching staff in the spring of 2022 as the running backs coach. 

Harris comes to ECCC after a one-year stint at Illinois College, an NCAA DIII institution in Jacksonville, Ill., where he served as the wide receivers coach. Under Harris’ leadership, the Blue Boys won their final five games of the 2021 season to finish 5-5 on the year. The Blue Boys were fourth in the Midwest Conference in receiving yards with 1,971 and had the conference’s second receiving leader in KJ Corley with 824 yards. Along with his coaching duties, Harris was heavily involved in the Blue Boys recruiting efforts. 

Harris began his coaching career as a student coach at Perry Central High School in 2017 before becoming the defensive line coach at Hernando High School in 2018. 

Harris, a Meridian native, is a 2012 graduate of Lamar High School where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. 

He resides in Decatur, where he also serves as a dorm supervisor.
