The East Central Community College golf team finished in fifth place and sophomore David Barry finished ninth in the individual standings at the National Junior College Athletic Association D-II National Preview Tournament Oct. 30-31 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala.
The Warriors, currently ranked No. 10 nationally by golfstat.com, shot a 64-over par 928 over the 54-hole tournament. Barry, out of West Jones High School, shot an eight-over par 224 to finish in ninth place.
Other ECCC golfers scoring for the Warriors were freshman Jacob Hamner out of Vanderbilt Catholic (Houma, La.), who tied for 10th with a nine-over par 225; sophomore Bailey Threlkeld from Choctawhatchee High School (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.), who tied for 16th with a 15-over par 231; freshman Jacob School out of Madison Central, who tied for 44th with a 35-over par 251; and freshman Trenton Hundley from Choctaw Central, who was 46th with a 37-over par 253.
East Central will next be in action March 5-6, 2018, at Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Event No. 4 at Northwood County Club in Meridian.
