The East Central Community College golf team posted a seventh-place finish in the third MACCC event of the year this week at Windance Country Club. The event fielded 10 team teams including all MACCC schools with golf programs as well as Rend Lake College out of Illinois.

The Warriors posted a 331 on the opening round before bouncing back with a nine-stroke improved on day two with a 322. The team's 653 total was good for seventh place overall and sixth place among MACCC programs.

"Windance Golf Club was the toughest course we have played this fall," said ECCC head golf coach Chris Clark. "That, paired with our guys not playing as well as they are capable of, led to our highest two-day total of the year. Moving forward, we will need to take advantage of our offseason for our guys to work on their games and be ready for our spring season which will start in February."

ECCC's golfers all hung around the middle of the pack with Bryce Denley (Mandeville, La.) and Davis Pool (Caledonia) leading the Warriors in the event with 161s. The duo tied for 31st overall while Daulton Nelson (Meridian) was just three strokes back at 164. Ethan Wade (Laurel) posted a 165 and shot the Warriors' lowest single round of the event, a 76 on day two, while River Maskew (Lucedale) carded a 168 and Gage Miller (Anniston, Ala.) shot a 170.

Mississippi Gulf Coast, who hosted the event, won the tournament with a team total of 584, while Meridian finished in second place with the only other sub-600 team score at 591.
