The East Central Community College golf team had a great outing in the second MACCC event of the year with a T-5th finish in the Gulf Region Preview hosted by Copiah-Lincoln at Beau Pre' Country Club in Natchez.
The event, the second of the year for the Warriors, was played on the par-72 course at 6,993 yards. The Warriors finished the opening round in second to last place with a 338 team total, before bouncing back in round two with a stellar 316, the third lowest team total of the day, to move the team up four spots at 654.
Mississippi Gulf Coast won the event with a 589, while Meridian finished second with a 607. Itawamba rounded out the top three with 624.
Individually, ECCC's Bryce Denley (Mandeville, La.) led the Warriors with a 151 after shooting rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4), just two strokes away from landing All-Tournament team honors. Gage Miller (Anniston, Ala.) shot a 161 after carding an 85 (+13) in the first round and bouncing back with a 76 (+4) in the second for a 24th overall finish. Lane Moore (Collinsville) shot an 89, 80 for a two-day total of 169, good for a 34th overall finish, while Peyton Herrington (Meridian) shot an 87, 84, 171 for a T-36th finish. Max Guzhvin (Ocean Springs) and River Maskew (Lucedale) rounded out the Warriors with totals of 173 and 175, respectively.
The Warriors are back on the links on Monday, October 10, and Tuesday, October 11 as the team travels to Meridian for the third MACCC event held at Briarwood Country Club.
