The East Central Community College golf team finished tied for fifth in an 11-team field in the second MACCC event of the year. The tournament, hosted by ECCC, was held on The Oaks course at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.

Mississippi Gulf Coast won the event with a 575, while Meridian and Northeast tied for second with both teams shooting a 603. Hinds finished fourth with a 610, ECCC and Jones College posted a fifth-place finish with 615s.

Individually, the Warriors were led by Will Thompson who fired off stellar rounds of 68 (-4) and 67 (-5) for a two-day 135. The nine-under-par performance not only led the ECCC team but earned Thompson medalist honors with the lowest score of the tournament, by six strokes.

Ashley Head shot rounds of 77 and 76 for a 153 and a sole 22nd finish, while Paul Swanepoel shot 77, 78 (155) for a 27th-place finish. Lane Moore, who played as an individual, tied for 39th, while Hayes Nance finished in 54th and Peyton Herrington tied for 55th. Braxton Cornish was disqualified due to a scorecard discrepancy.

The Warriors are back on the links on Monday, October 16, and Tuesday, October 17 for the next MACCC event at the Laurel Country Club hosted by Jones College.
