Warrior Soccer Season Ends in MACJC Quarterfinals

The 2019 seasons ended for the East Central Community College soccer teams as the Lady Warriors and Warriors both lost to their opponents from Jones College in the MACJC Quarterfinals in matches played Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Bobcat Soccer Field on the Jones campus in Ellisville.

The ECCC Lady Warriors lost 2-1 to the Lady Bobcats in a match that went 90 minutes of regulation, two 10-minute overtime periods, and into penalty kicks where Jones came out on top 3-2. The Warriors fell 7-0 to Jones in the men's match.

Sophomore defender Katelyn Morson (Vicksburg, Warren Central) gave the Lady Warriors a lead with her first goal of the season at the 9:35 mark of the first half. Jones tied the match early in the second half. Neither team could find the net the remainder of the match or through the two overtime periods.

The Lady Warriors' season ends with a 9-7-1 record. The Jones Lady Bobcats improve to 12-6 and advance to the MACJC Semifinals to face Holmes on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Raymond.

The Jones Bobcats scored three goals in the first half and four in the second to shutout East Central in the men's match. The Warriors finish the season 6-12. Jones is 11-4 and will face Hinds on Saturday in the MACJC Semifinals in Raymond.

Both East Central teams entered the postseason as the No. 3 seeds in the MACJC North Division, while the homestanding Jones squads were the No. 2 seeds in the South Division.
