SUMMIT – East Central Community College controlled both ends of the pitch in a 4-0 victory over Southwest Mississippi on Friday night, securing its first MACCC conference win of the season.
The Warriors (3-3 overall, 1-1 MACCC) broke through in the 30th minute when Camilo Lopez Sanchez finished off a pass from Michael Lismore. Eleven minutes later, freshman Ethan White extended the lead to 2-0, again with Lismore providing the assist.
East Central carried the momentum into the second half. Nick Rodriguez struck in the 55th minute with an unassisted goal, pushing the margin to three. The Warriors closed out the scoring in the 82nd minute as Carlos Ramirez converted another setup from Lismore, who finished the match with three assists.
ECCC generated five shots on goal and converted four into scores, displaying efficiency in the attacking third. The Warrior defense was equally effective, limiting Southwest Mississippi to just two shots on target. Goalkeeper Sebastian Montes Mon collected both saves while recording the shutout over 90 minutes of play.
The win evened East Central's record at .500 overall while giving the Warriors an early boost in the MACCC standings. The performance marked the second shutout of the season and highlighted a balanced approach, with four different players finding the net.
