In its first season, the cross-country team at East Central Community College demonstrated competitiveness under the guidance of Head Coach Kenneth Thompson, who led both the men's and women's teams. The team participated in three meets during the fall.
"Considering that we started the program around mid-season, I thought the team did a great job getting into shape by the end of the season. However, we were not able to get all the way to the form we needed since we were about seven weeks behind everyone else. Results showed everyone holding the line or improving all the way to the end of the season. Everyone gave their best effort in the championship meet. They are looking forward to the next season and showing what they can do with a full season of training under their belts," said Kenneth Thompson.
The team competed in women's and men's at Mississippi College, Region 22, and nationals.
Gavin Clark posted a 100 finish at nationals with a 31:33:20.
The men's team members are Gavin Clark, Brayon Farve, Jaylon West, Tyler Monk, Logan Lyons, Quontravious Williams, and Edwards Myers.
