East Central Community College's cross-country team proved competitive in its inaugural season. Head coach Kenneth Thompson led the men's and women's teams. The team competed in the three meets this fall.

"Considering that we started the program around mid-season, I thought the team did a great job getting into shape by the end of the season. However, we were not able to get all the way to the form we needed since we were about seven weeks behind everyone else. Results showed everyone holding the line or improving all the way to the end of the season. Everyone gave their best effort in the championship meet. They are looking forward to the next season and showing what they can do with a full season of training under their belts," said Kenneth Thompson.

The team competed in women's and men's at Mississippi College, Region 22, and nationals.

Brynnley Powell and Emaliyah King were top 100 finishers in the Women's 5000m Divison III at nationals with 24:52:10 and 28:35:20, respectively.
