Matt Mitchell begins his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for ECCC baseball after serving a year as a volunteer assistant.

A native of Lake and Lake High School, Mitchell was a Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges First Team All-State selection for the East Central Baseball Warriors following the 2016 season in which he helped ECCC to its third MACJC State Championship.

Also during his career at ECCC, Mitchell received the Jamie Clark Award for Baseball at Awards Day in 2016 and was named National Junior College Athletic Association Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.

He is working on a bachelor’s degree at Mississippi State University Meridian.

He and his wife, Brady, reside in Decatur.
