Mike Jones, who has coached at the high school and college levels and in the NFL Europe and Canadian Football League, begins his second season on Ken Karcher’s staff and his first as offensive coordinator. He also coaches running backs and tight ends.

Jones most recently was a teacher and assistant football coach at Lake Minneola High School in Minneola, Fla. Prior to that he was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee State University in Nashville for five seasons.

In 2009, Jones was the wide receivers coach for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

From 1998 to 2007, he coached for the Frankfurt, Germany, franchise of the National Football League Europe. As head coach from 2004-07, he led the Galaxy to the 2006 World Bowl Championship and was named NFL Europe Coach of the Year.

A native of Chattanooga, he played wide receiver at Tennessee State. Jones was a sixth round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings in 1983 and played six seasons in the NFL.

Jones received his bachelor of arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Tennessee State.

He and his wife, Minerva Jones, have three children: daughters Bridgette Vasquez and Brittany Vasquez, and son Chandler Jones.
