Kenneth Thompson begins his 22nd season as men’s soccer team coach and previously served eight seasons leading the women’s squad.

His 2019 team finished with a 6-12 overall record and in third place in the MACJC North Division. The Warriors advanced to the MACJC Quarterfinals where they lost to Jones College.

He picked up his 100th win at East Central during the 2018 season, while his Warriors failed to make the postseason for the first time in three years.

Thompson's 2017 team finshed 9-6-1 overall and won the MACJC North Division Title before advancing to the semifinals of the MACJC/NJCAA Region 23 Soccer Tournament.

His 2016 squad finished 9-8 overall and 5-3 in MACJC North Division play. The Warriors lost to Southwest Mississippi Community College in the first round of the MACJC playoffs. During the season, the team won six straight matches at one point.

The 2015 men’s soccer team finished 6-10-1 overall, 3-4-1 in the MACJC North Division, and advanced to the playoffs.

The 2014 men’s soccer team finished 5-10-2 overall and 1-7 in the North Division, and Thompson’s 2013 squad completed the season 8-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the MACJC North Division. 

His 2012 Soccer Warriors experienced ECCC’s most successful campaign, earning a share of the MACJC North Division title by posting a 5-2-1 mark. ECCC advanced to the MACJC State Soccer Tournament en route to a 10-6-3 record under Thompson.

Thompson’s teams continue to excel in the classroom with the 2014 Warriors finishing sixth in the nation with a 3.04 grade point average.      

Prior to joining the ECCC coaching staff, Thompson served as varsity and junior varsity soccer coach at Newton County High School.

A graduate of Morton High School and ECCC, Thompson holds bachelor's and master’s degrees in education from Mississippi State University.

He is married to the former Cindy Russell and they have three sons – twins Russ and Will, and Samm.
