A dramatic bottom of the seventh home run by Annabell Watkins gave the No. 15 ranked East Central Community College Lady Warriors a 9-7 game one win and kick-started a doubleheader sweep over No. 19 Lansing Community College Sunday, March 8, at the Softball Park on campus.

East Central won the nightcap 14-6 to complete the sweep. The Lady Warriors improve to 12-4 on the season. The visitors from Lansing, Mich., are 1-3.

East Central took a 3-0 lead into the top of the seventh in game one when the Lansing Stars erupted for seven runs thanks to a couple of home runs and a bases-clearing double.

Trailing 7-3 in the bottom of the frame, sophomore shortstop Kaylee Webb (Ruston, La.) and freshman second baseman Landree Amis (Newton County) opened the inning with singles. Back-to-back doubles by sophomore left fielder Olivia Houston (Northwest Rankin) and sophomore catcher Anna McNeer (Canton Academy) quickly made the score 7-6. Sophomore third baseman Hannah Dufault (Hurley, East Central) then tied the game with an RBI single before Watkins' (Leake Academy) walk-off two-run homer won the game for East Central 9-7.

Houston also had an RBI single in the second inning for the Lady Warriors and McNeer hit her sixth home run of the season in third. Amis led East Central with three hits, including two doubles. Freshman right fielder Sidney Rone (Ethel) had a single and a double in the contest.

East Central jumped out to an 8-1 lead in game two before holding on for the 14-6 win.

The Lady Warriors trailed 1-0 before scoring six runs in the bottom of the second, including a three-run double from Amis and an RBI double by Houston. Two more runs crossed the plate the following inning as sophomore center fielder Parker Breland (Union) singled in one of the runs.

After Lansing closed the gap to 8-4, East Central added three insurance runs in fifth. Amis had an RBI single and Houston had another double that brought in two runs. In the seventh, Watkins hit her second home run of the day and the combination of Amis and Houston struck again as Amis drove in her fifth run of the game with a single and Houston her fourth of the day with her third double.

Breland, Amis, and Houston each had three of East Central's 15 hits.

East Central will host Marion Military on Tuesday, March 10. Doubleheader action at the Softball Park begins at 3 p.m. Both games can be heard on WKOZ "Cruisin" 98.3 radio and watched via live stream video at www.eccc.edu/eccc-media.
