Ryan McTaggart joined the ECCC softball staff in July 2019 as assistant coach.

A native of Nanih Waiya, she previously was assistant softball coach at Philadelphia High School, helping lead the Lady Tornadoes to the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A State Championship in 2019. Along the way, the Lady Tornadoes won the MHSAA Class 2A North State Title and a district championship.

While a player at Nanih Waiya High School, McTaggart helped lead the Lady Warriors to six straight district championships and the MHSAA Class A State Championship in 2013. Her high school honors were numerous, including the MHSAA Player of the Year in 2014 and MHSAA Hitter of the Year in 2013. She was a three-time All-State selection and six-time All-District selection, as well as the Wendy’s Heisman recipient in 2014.

McTaggart took her talents to the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, where the Bears won the Southland Conference Tournament and received a bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2014. In 2018, she was selected to the National Invitational Softball Championship All-Region Team.

She was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete and named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll four straight years.

McTaggart received her bachelor’s degree in K-12 special education from UCA in 2018, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She was a four-time UCA Presidential Scholar from 2015-18.
