Warriors Remain Undefeated After Three Game Sweep of Jackson State Community College

The East Central Warriors completed the weekend sweep of Jackson State Community this past weekend in Decatur. With three more consecutive wins, the Warriors are now 16-0 in the season.

Barret Rodgers collected three hits in four bats as EC Warriors defeated Jackson State CC 14-4 on Friday. Rodgers hit a home run to right field in the seventh inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth.

Jackson State CC got on the board in the top of the first inning after Garrett Taylor tripled, scoring two runs, and Garrett Lance singled, scoring one run.
EC Warriors took the lead, 6-3, in the bottom of the fifth thanks to singles by Liam Gilbert and Nic Arender.
Four more EC Warriors runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 11-3.
Rodgers homered to right field, scoring two runs; Gilbert drew a walk, scoring one run; and Reid Hall doubled, scoring one run.
Three more EC Warriors runs crossed the plate in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 14-4.
Trey Smith homered to right field, scoring two runs, and John Leyton Lewis singled, scoring one run.
Marbin Lezcano earned the win for the EC Warriors. They gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Cade Steiner took the loss for Jackson State CC. The lefty went two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking seven.
Jason Hamm started on the hill for Jackson State CC. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs over five innings, striking out four and walking six. Connor Aplin tossed one inning of shutout ball for EC Warriors in relief.
The reliever allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
EC Warriors tallied 13 hits in the game. Gilbert and Rodgers each collected three hits for EC Warriors. Arender led EC Warriors with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Brady McGee collected two hits for EC Warriors in five at-bats. Trey Bridges led EC Warriors with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 13 walks for the game. Rodgers stole two bases. EC Warriors stole six bases in the game.
Game Two
Despite trailing by as many as five runs, EC Warriors rallied to top Jackson State CC 9-7 on Saturday. The Warriors took the lead later in the game. EC Warriors were down 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Trey Smith singled, scoring three runs.
Jackson State CC opened the scoring in the first after Garrett Taylor hit a grand slam to left field. Garrett Lance hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for the Jackson State CC.
Reid Hall earned the win for the EC Warriors. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Eli Smith stepped on the bump first for EC Warriors. They allowed five hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Kyle Lambert started on the mound for Jackson State CC.
The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over six innings, striking out four and walking four. Connor Aplin, Carson Ellis, and Riley Passman each appeared in relief for EC Warriors.
EC Warriors tallied 13 hits in the game. Kelby Jordan and Cyrus Rone each collected three hits for EC Warriors. Smith, the number eight hitter for EC Warriors, led the way with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. EC Warriors had patience at the plate, accumulating ten walks for the game. Nic Arender and Brady McGee led the team with two walks each. Trey Bridges stole two bases. EC Warriors ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
Game Three
Both teams were strong on the hill on Saturday, but EC Warriors defeated Jackson State CC 2-1. Bryson Goff started the game for EC
Warriors and recorded 15 outs.
EC Warriors opened the scoring in the second after Brady McGee doubled, scoring two runs.
Goff earned the win for the Warriors. He allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Caden Moore took the loss for Jackson State CC. He went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking four. Rhett Atkinson collected the save. Creed Fulton and Parker Martin each appeared in relief for EC Warriors.
EC Warriors's Nic Arender made the most of their chances at the plate. The number eight hitter led the team with two hits in three at-bats. McGee went 1-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with two runs batted in. EC Warriors ran wild on the base paths, tallying three stolen bases for the game.
EC Warriors were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jayden Adcox made the most plays with nine.

On Tuesday, the Warriors will play against Meridian Community College and East Mississippi Community College at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex.
