Warriors Win Streak Ends At 31 after Split with Northwest

The Diamond Warriors' win streak ended at thirty-one wins after a late defensive effort by Northwest Community College in game two of the MACCC doubleheader.

Game One

Northwest Mississippi opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two walks.

When Person drew a walk, Northwest Mississippi first got on the board, scoring one run.

A single by Greer extended the Northwest Mississippi lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning.

EC Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Liam Gilbert grounded out, Reid Hall doubled, and Cyrus Rone laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Kamryn Carlisle earned the win for the Warriors. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. Parker Martin pitched three and one-third innings in relief for EC Warriors. The righty gave up four hits and one run while striking out three and walking none.

Shropshire took the loss for Northwest Mississippi. They went five and one-third innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking four. Chris Billingsley started on the mound for EC Warriors. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and two runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking four.
Trey Bridges and Mo Little were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for EC Warriors while hitting back-to-back. Hall led EC Warriors with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup.

The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Kelby Jordan paced EC Warriors with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. EC Warriors turned one double play in the game.

EC Warriors didn't commit a single error in the field. Gilbert had the most chances in the field with 10.

Game Two

Both teams scored a lot of runs, but the Warriors fell to Northwest Mississippi 8-7 on Saturday. Northwest Mississippi collected 10 hits, while the East Central Warriors had 11. The Warriors lost despite out-hitting Northwest Mississippi 11 to 10. Barret Rodgers led ECWarriors with three hits.

Northwest Mississippi opened the scoring in the second after Lang hit a solo home run to right field.

Cyrus Rone singled, which helped EC Warriors tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

A single by Lang gave Northwest Mississippi the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.

EC Warriors tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a hit by a pitch, a single by Trey Bridges, a walk by Reid Hall, and a single by Nic Arender.

Northwest Mississippi jumped back into the lead at the top of the eighth inning after Craig scored after tagging up. Roncalli walked, and Northwest Mississippi scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

James Smith earned the win for Northwest Mississippi. The reliever allowed seven hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three. Connor Aplin took the loss for the EC Warriors. They went one inning, allowing one run on zero hits, striking out and walking one. Bryson Goff stepped on the hill first for the EC Warriors. The lefty surrendered three hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Brennan Jones stepped on the bump first for Northwest Mississippi. They surrendered four hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking five.

The EC Warriors piled up 11 hits in the game. Jayden Adcox, Arender, Bridges, Hall, Mo Little, and Rone each drove in one run. Hall led the EC Warriors with two walks.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game.

The Warriors will face off against Co-Lin on Wednesday, March 27, at Clark/ Gay Baseball Complex.
