Warriors Sweep Southwest

Decatur, MS—The No. 2 Warriors swept Southwest Community College on Wednesday. The Warriors are now 46-4 on the season, the best regular-season record in the school's history. 

 

Game One 

East Central was the first to score in the first when Barret Rodgers singled, scoring one run.

The Warriors scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on Trey Bridges's solo home run to right field.

Bryson Goff earned the win for the Warriors.

They allowed three hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Matthew Bienvenu took the loss for SMCC Bears 2024. They went six innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out three, and walking two.

Kamryn Carlisle and Rodgers each threw scoreless innings for EC Warriors in relief.

Rodgers went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits. Bridges, Liam Gilbert, and Rodgers each drove in one run for East Central.

 

Game Two

 

EC Warriors scored one run in the bottom of the first inning after Barret Rodgers singled and Jayden Adcox hit a sacrifice fly.

East Central added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Brady McGee doubled, scoring two runs; Mo Little doubled, scoring one run; and Marvin Jackson singled, scoring one run.

The Warriors added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Rodgers drew a walk, scoring one run, and Adcox singled, scoring one run.

EC Warriors scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Eli Smith drew a walk, scoring one run; Cyrus Rone drew a walk, scoring one run; Langston Cotten drew a walk, scoring one run; Chris Billingsley singled, scoring one run; Nic Arender drew a walk, scoring one run, and Trey Smith singled, scoring one run.

Marbin Lezcano earned the win for the Warriors. They allowed one hit and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Luke Lirette took the loss for the Southwest Bears

2024. They went two innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out two and walking four.

Connor Aplin, Rhett Atkinson, Carson Ellis, and Creed Fulton each threw shutout innings for EC Warriors in relief.

The Warriors accumulated 13 hits in the game.

EC Warriors's Kelby Jordan made the most of their chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Adcox and McGee each drove in two runs for EC Warriors. Little and Smith each collected multiple hits for EC Warriors. Smith led the EC Warriors with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game. EC Warriors ran wild on the base paths, accumulating three stolen bases for the game.
