Warriors Earn 50th win of the season and Advance to the Regional Tournment

The Warriors are headed to the regional tournament after defeating the Northeast Mississippi Community Tigers two games to one in a three-game series. The Warriors earned their 50th WIN OF THE YEAR in game three, the most in program history. 

 

Game one

Mo Little collected three hits in five at-bats as East Central Warriors defeated Northeast Mississippi Community College 6-4. Little hit a home run to center field in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third.

In the bottom of the first, Little's home run to center field put the East Central Warriors on the board.

Northeast Mississippi Community College captured the lead, 4-2, in the top of the second when Coner Graves homered to left field, scoring two runs; an error scored one run, and Conner McKnatt singled, scoring one run.

The Warriors jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Reid Hall was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and John Leyton Lewis singled, scoring two runs.

Bryson Goff earned the win for the EC Warriors. The lefty gave up zero hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking five. JB Williams took the loss for Northeast Mississippi Community College. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Marbin Lezcano led things off on the mound for EC Warriors. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking five. Connor Aplin collected the save. Carson Ellis pitched one inning of no-run ball for EC Warriors in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.

East Central Warriors collected nine hits in the game. Lewis and Little each drove in two runs for EC Warriors. EC Warriors turned one double play in the game.

 

GAME TWO 

 

EC Warriors Loses Despite Out Hitting Northeast Mississippi Community College

East Central fell 3-2 to Northeast Mississippi Community College on Sunday despite out-hitting them nine to three. Barret Rodgers led the EC Warriors with three hits.

Both teams were strong on the bump. Northeast Mississippi Community College pitchers struck out nine, while EC Warriors sat down 12.

The EC Warriors struck first when Drew Cartee prompted Mo Little to hit into a fielder's choice, resulting in one run crossing the plate.

Northeast Mississippi Community College captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fifth after Parker Hall walked and Carter Wells hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Cartee earned the win for Northeast Mississippi Community College. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and one run over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Luke Cooley took the loss for the EC Warriors. The left-handed pitcher went four and one-third innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out nine and walking five. Kelly Crumpton earned the save.

The EC Warriors tallied nine hits in the game. Little and Eli Smith each drove in one run. Trey Bridges collected two hits in four at-bats. The EC Warriors turned one double play in the game.

Game Three 

 

East Central's Cyrus Rone Powers Through Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Cyrus Rone hit two home runs and drove in five as EC Warriors defeated Northeast Mississippi Community College 12-7 on Monday. Rone homered in the second and seventh innings.

EC Warriors collected 11 hits, and Northeast Mississippi Community College had nine in the high-scoring affair.

EC Warriors got on the board in the first inning after Barret Rodgers doubled, scoring one run.

Drake Douglas singled, which helped Northeast Mississippi Community College tie the game at one in the top of the second.

In the bottom of the second, Rone's home run to left field gave the EC Warriors the lead, 3-1.

Reid Hall's sacrifice fly, Nic Arender's single, and Rone's double helped the EC Warriors extend their early lead in the third.

EC Warriors added to their lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to home runs by Arender and Rone.

Carter Wells hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the eighth for the Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Chris Billingsley earned the win for the EC Warriors. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking seven. Taylor Ballard took the loss for Northeast Mississippi Community College. They went two innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, striking out four, and walking two. Eli Smith threw one inning of shutout ball for EC Warriors in relief. The lefty allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

EC Warriors accumulated 11 hits in the game. Arender and Mo Little each collected multiple hits for EC Warriors. EC Warriors didn't commit a single error in the field. Liam Gilbert had the most chances in the field with eight.
