Rodgers Walks it Off for the Warriors against Hinds

Poplarville, MS -- The Warriors eliminate Hinds in the elimination bracket on Wednesday at Dub Herring. The East Central Warriors won Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, 14-13, in a walk-off victory over Hinds Community College. The game was tied at 13 in the bottom of the eleventh when Barret Rodgers singled, scoring one run.

East Central jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Rodgers singled, scoring one run; Mo Little doubled, scoring one run; Trey Bridges singled, scoring one run; an error scored two runs; and John Leyton Lewis grounded out, scoring one run.

The Warriors added one run in the second after Jayden Adcox walked.

Braden Richardson hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for Hinds Community College.

Hinds Community College scored five runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Graham Busbea homered to left field, scoring two runs; Thomas Marsala homered to center field, scoring two runs; and Cameron Hill hit a solo home run to center field.

Adcox homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the EC Warriors.

Hinds Community College tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a walk by Marsala and a grand slam to left field by Hill.

A double by Tyler Janos gave Hinds Community College the lead, 13-12, in the top of the ninth.

Kelby Jordan singled on an 0-2 count, which helped EC Warriors tie the game at 13 in the bottom of the ninth.

Kamryn Carlisle earned the win for the Warriors. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Cole Burton took the loss for Hinds Community College. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking five. Luke Cooley stepped on the mound first for EC Warriors. The lefty allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking four. Ryan Herbison stepped on the mound first for Hinds Community College. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and seven runs (four earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. In relief, Connor Aplin tossed one and two-thirds of the innings of shutout ball for the EC Warriors. They surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking one.

The Warriors will face Jones College tomorrow at 4 PM from Poplarville, MS.
