Warriors Historic Season Ends in the World Series Semis

Decatur, MS- The East Central Community College Warriors end the 2023-24 baseball season with a record of fifty-five wins and only nine losses. The Warriors set a new season win record en route to the NJCAA DII World Series in Enid, Oklahoma. This season, the Warriors fans were able to watch HC Neal Holliman earn his 500th win( in walk-off fashion by Brady McGee), 31-0 nonconference win streak (win streak record), So. Luke Cooley throw 115 total strikeouts, and the Warriors win three straight elimination games at the World Series. The Warriors scored an eye-popping 556 runs as a team ( ranks 4th in NJCAA DII), including 61 total home runs.

Madison May 29

Jayden Adcox drove in five runs on four hits to lead EC Warriors past Madison College 13-4 on Wednesday. Adcox doubled in the first, scoring two, doubled in the sixth, scoring two, and singled in the second, scoring one.

EC Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Trey Bridges singled, scoring one run; Adcox doubled, scoring two runs; and Nic Arender singled, scoring two runs.

EC Warriors added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Mo Little walked, Bridges singled, Adcox singled, and Arender laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Evan Folse earned the win for the Warriors. They gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Ryan Karst took the loss for Madison College. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking two. Reid Hall tossed three innings of no-run ball for EC Warriors in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out four and walking one.

EC Warriors accumulated 15 hits in the game. Arender, Bridges, John Leyton Lewis, and Little each collected multiple hits for EC Warriors.

Nick Nowak went 1-for-2 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with two runs batted in. Payton Frehner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Madison College in hits. Madison College was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Nowak made the most plays with nine.

Brunswick May 30
ECCC 5-3 BCC

EC Warriors got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

Jernigan hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Brunswick CC tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors went back into the lead after Brunswick CC committed an error. Nic Arender singled, and Langston Cotten singled, each scoring one run.

Parker Martin earned the win for East Central. The righty surrendered four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking two. Dawson Neal took the loss for Brunswick CC. The lefty went three and two-thirds innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking two. Eli Smith started on the hill for the Warriors. The lefty gave up four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three and walking none.

EC Warriors amassed ten hits in the game. Arender and Barret Rodgers each collected two hits for EC Warriors. Arender, Trey Bridges, and Cotten each drove in one run for EC Warriors. Arender stole two bases. EC Warriors ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. EC Warriors turned one double play in the game. EC Warriors were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cyrus Rone made the most plays with eight.

Chad Bean, Colby Thorndyke, and Gage Treadway each collected two hits for Brunswick CC. Bean, Cal Henderson, and Jernigan each drove in one run for Brunswick CC. Brunswick CC turned one double play in the game.

BCC 2-1 ECCC

East Central were the first to get on the board in the third when Nic Arender hit a solo home run to left field.

Brunswick CC jumped back into the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Jaxson Croom hit a sacrifice fly and Gage Treadway doubled, each scoring one run.

Lezcano stepped on the hill first for the Warriors. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six. Josh McCusker led things off on the hill for Brunswick CC. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two.

Arender led EC Warriors with one run batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. EC Warriors turned one double play in the game.

Chad Bean led Brunswick CC with two hits in five at-bats. Croom and Treadway each drove in one run for Brunswick CC. Colby Thorndyke stole two bases. Brunswick CC ran wild on the base paths, accumulating three stolen bases for the game. Brunswick CC turned one double play in the game. Brunswick CC didn't commit a single error in the field. Thorndyke had the most chances in the field with 10.
