East Central Baseball Sweeps Mississippi Delta in Two-Game MACCC Series

Decatur, MS – The East Central Community College baseball team dominated Mississippi Delta Community College in a two-game MACCC series on Friday, securing wins of 19-2 and 15-5 at home. Strong performances from Ryan Nelson, Pablo Roque, and a deep pitching staff helped the Warriors cruise to victory.

Game 1: Nelson Leads Offensive Explosion in 19-2 Win

East Central wasted no time setting the tone in the opener. The Warriors responded with a dominant offensive display after Mississippi Delta took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Nic Arender's two-run single and Landon Moore's RBI triple put East Central ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the first.

The second inning saw the Warriors break the game open, scoring six runs on three hits. A pitch with the bases loaded hit Barrett Rodgers, Jayden Adcox drew a walk to bring in another run, and Arender and Moore followed with back-to-back doubles, each driving in two.

Ryan Nelson was the star at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. Rodgers also had a big day, blasting a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Home runs from Ryan Hardin, Nelson, and Adcox in the sixth put the game out of reach.

On the mound, Trae Winn earned the win, allowing just one hit and two runs (one earned) over 2.2 innings while striking out four. Hayden Dodson and Creed Fulton combined for scoreless relief appearances to close out the game.

East Central finished with 15 hits, led by Nelson, Moore, and Eli Smith, who each had three. Arender and Rodgers drove in four runs apiece.

Game 2: Roque's Grand Slam Powers 15-5 Victory

Game two featured another offensive showcase, this time led by Pablo Roque, who drove in five runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning.

Mississippi Delta struck first with two runs in the opening frame, but East Central quickly responded with a six-run bottom of the first. Roque's RBI single and key hits from Adcox, Hardin, Cotten, Smith, and Nelson helped the Warriors take control.

The second inning added two more runs as Hardin grounded out to score one, and a balk allowed another run to cross the plate.

East Central put the game away in the fifth with a seven-run outburst, highlighted by Roque's grand slam to right field. Hardin added an RBI single, and Billingsley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in another.

Cade Morrow earned the win, tossing three innings and allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out four. Nelson Haas pitched a scoreless final inning in relief.

Adcox led the Warriors at the plate, going 3-for-4, while Nelson and Smith added multiple hits. The Warriors also turned a double play to highlight a solid defensive performance.

With the sweep, East Central improves its standing in MACCC play as the Warriors continue their strong start.
