Innes Mackay joins the East Central Community College baseball staff as an assistant coach for the 2024 season, bringing a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the program. A former semiprofessional baseball player in Consuelo, Dominican Republic, Mackay played under legendary MLB star Julio Franco from 2017 to 2018. His collegiate career began at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College under Head Coach Steve Helms, where he helped the team earn NJCAA Region 22 Runner-Up honors in 2019. He later transferred to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he excelled.
A graduate of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College with an Associate of Arts degree, Mackay also holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Huntingdon College. Throughout his academic career, he demonstrated excellence on and off the field as a three-time ACCC Academic All-American and a two-time CCS Academic Honor Roll honoree. In 2023, Mackay earned recognition as an NSCA All-American.
Mackay is fluent in Spanish and brings valuable international experience and leadership to the East Central Community College baseball team. His most recent coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach for the Dansville Gliders of the NYCBL during the summer of 2024. Originally from Washington, D.C., Mackay is a proud Jackson Reed High School graduate. He is eager to contribute to the growth and success of the Warriors baseball program.
