Ellisville, MS—The East Central Warriors spoiled Jones College's homecoming with a 27-7 win at Bobcat Stadium in the Saturday afternoon MACCC South Division matchup. East Central's swarming defense stifled the Jones offense and shut them out for the final three quarters. The win marks the first win against the Bobcats since the 2016 season. The Warriors improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the MACCC South. The Bobcats fall to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in division play.
East Central responded quickly after falling behind early to a 15-yard touchdown pass by Jones QB Blake Murphy to Marlon Lindsey Jr. Quarterbacks Chris Tucker and Landon Sims orchestrated two touchdown drives in the second quarter. Tucker connected with Jaquel Dukes on a 43-yard laser, followed by a 34-yard touchdown pass from Sims to Eelijah Singleton, giving East Central a 13-7 lead at halftime.
The defense took control from there, limiting Jones College to just 85 yards on the ground and holding their passing game to 185 yards. East Central's relentless pressure led to two sacks, one interception by Carson Graham, a blocked punt, and multiple forced fumbles. Linebackers Keoni Denny and Donnie Smith were everywhere, combining 18 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
In the fourth quarter, running back Keshawn Henley sealed the game with two touchdowns—one on the ground from three yards out and the other on a 10-yard reception. Henley's versatility and the team's ball-control offense helped East Central dominate possession late, finishing with a balanced 365 total yards of offense.
