Bailey McElwain begins his first season as volunteer safeties coach for the ECCC Warriors.

Prior to joining Coach Karcher’s staff, he played at Vanderbilt University where he competed for one season before enduring a career-ending neck injury. After joining the Vanderbilt football staff as volunteer fullbacks coach for a year, McElwain made a move to Birmingham where he completed his degree at UAB in general studies with a double minor in psychology and history.

As a player, McElwain started 13 games as a true freshman for the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2016, where he finished the season with two touchdowns and served as a key blocker for the school’s all-time leading rusher. In the same season, the team reached the Camping World Independence Bowl.

Most recently, McElwain spent a spring at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Alabama as linebackers coach, working under current ECCC defensive line coach Rudy Griffin.
