Rogers Scores 24 as Warriors Push Past SACC, 90-82

Led by a 24-point performance from Connor Rogers, the Warriors of East Central Community College hung on to a 90-82 win over the Southern Arkansas Community College Stars in front of the hometown crowd in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. Monday night's win pushed the Warriors' season record to 5-4 in the early 2023-2024 season. The Stars fell to 4-2.

Feteh Bensalah opened the game with an easy lob finish from teammate Demarcus Powe off the tip. The Warriors and Stars went back and forth in the early portion of the first half. The Stars pushed their lead to as many as eight. Austin Abrams provided a spark off the bench for the Warriors, hitting a three-point basket with Powe assisting with four and half minutes left in the first half.

The Warriors' late surge of the first half was effective as they regained the lead at 35-34 from a late basket by Tamarion Jones.

At the beginning of the second half, the Stars made a two-point shot, making the game 36-35. Feteh Bensalah and Connor Rogers made back-to-back baskets for the Warriors, helping them regain the lead. The Warriors would never trail again in the game.

Rogers, Powe, and Bensalah would all score double digits for the Warriors. Bensalah also proved effective on the boards, posting another double on the season with 15 rebounds.

The Warriors shot the ball well from the floor, shooting 40% as a team.
