Warriors Comeback Attempt Falls Just Short

Decatur, MS - The East Central Warriors were host to their first conference home game versus the Pearl River Wildcats. The Wildcats came into tonight's match with a 15-2 record. The Warriors battled hard early but could not overcome the Wildcats offensive attack.
The Warriors got off to a slow start offensively, falling behind 7-2 4 minutes into the first half. Connor Rodgers and DeAnthony Lewis got things going for the Warriors with back-to-back made baskets, making the score tied at 7-7. The first half turned into a low-scoring defensive battle. The Warriors struggled from the field, scoring only 17 points in the first period. Despite their offensive struggles, they continued to battle on defense, holding Pearl River to just 27 points.
Despite repeated runs by the Warriors in the second, they fell just short of their attempts to even the game.
Jaylin McNair posted a season-high 15 points in the contest, proving effective in the paint. Connor Rogers and DeAnthony Lewis also reached double figures, scoring 14 and 10, respectively. Overall, the Warriors shot 28% from the field, but their effort on defense kept them in the game.
