Warriors Comeback Attempt Falls Short

DeMarcus Powe hits a corner three

The Warriors lost a thriller to the visiting Hinds Bulldogs. The 78-73 loss dropped the Warriors to an 11-10 record.

Connor Rogers got it going early, nailing a deep three-point shot over his defender and sparking the cheers of the student section. Hinds would answer back quickly. Then Connor Rogers hit a sweet floater in the lane. The game would continue to be back and forth in the early minutes. The Warriors had fallen behind early by seven points until Tamarion Jones drained a deep three-pointer off an Isaiah Williams assist. DeAnthony Lewis scored on a contested putback in the next possession, cutting the deficit to just two points.

Jay'lan McNair got to the basket early in the second half for an easy layup. Hinds began to pull away until Demarcus Powe drained two deep three-pointers, cutting the Hinds lead to five points. The Warriors would continue to play hard late in the contest. However, the comeback attempt was short, as they could not make enough late-game stops to overtake the Hinds Bulldogs.

Four Warriors would reach double figures. Lewis and Jones led the Warriors in rebounding with seven each. The Warriors shot 39% from the field and 82% from the free-throw line.

The Warriors will travel to Ittawamba Community College on Thursday, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30.
