DECATUR, Miss. – The East Central Community College Warriors (11-8) secured a crucial conference victory on their home court, defeating the Itawamba Community College Indians (17-4) by a score of 83-78 on Thursday night.
Sophomore guard Connor Rogers delivered a standout performance, leading the Warriors with 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting an efficient 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. His ability to control the tempo and execute in key moments was vital to East Central's success.
The Warriors held a 29-26 lead at halftime before both teams ramped up their offensive production in the second half. East Central outscored Itawamba 54-52 after the break, maintaining their edge down the stretch.
Amare Holmes contributed 15 points, while Daniel Zatsepin added 14 and 5 rebounds. The Warriors' defense held strong, limiting Itawamba's attack while making clutch free throws in the closing minutes.
With the win, East Central improves to 11-8 overall and gains momentum as they continue their conference schedule. The Warriors will now focus on their next challenge, a road matchup against conference foe Meridian Community College (8-13) on Monday, Feb. 4.
