Warrior Soccer Gets 2-0 Shutout Over Visiting Andrew

The East Central Community College Warrior soccer team defeated the Andrew College Fighting Tigers 2-0 Tuesday, Oct. 1, and in doing so snapped a four-match losing streak and picked up their first shutout of the season.

The match was played on the Soccer Pitch on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

It completed a season sweep for the Warriors. East Central defeated Andrew in a road match 3-2 on Aug. 27 in Cuthbert, Ga.

With the win, the Warriors are now 4-8 on the season, while the Fighting Tigers fell to 1-10.

Scoring for the Warriors were sophomore midfielder Joel Hill (Newton County), assisted by sophomore forward Terrell Johnson (Jackson, Murrah), and freshman midfielder Raphael Salles (San Paulo, Brazil), assisted by freshman midfielder Hugo Chagas (Fortaleza, Brazil). Freshman Chase Graham (Vicksburg, Warren Central) was in goal for East Central.

The Warriors return to MACJC North Division action against Holmes at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, in Ridgeland.
