Sophia Romero leads the Lady Warriors past Lamar State College

Sophia Romero delivered a standout performance, driving in four runs on three hits to propel the East Central Community College Lady Warriors to an 8-2 victory over the Lamar State Seahawks on Wednesday. Romero's contributions included a crucial home run to center field in the sixth inning, bringing in three runs, and a double in the third inning, scoring one.

The Lamar State Seahawks struck first in the opening inning when an error allowed one run to cross the plate. However, the Lady Warriors quickly regained control, reclaiming the lead in the third inning as Romero's double and Kaitlyn Jones's single each drove in a run.

A Lady Warriors error in the bottom of the third allowed the Seahawks to tie the game at two apiece. But in the top of the fourth, the Lady Warriors surged ahead again, with Anna Grace Shows's double bringing in a run followed by Reagan Bryan's double, extending their lead to 4-2.

Romero's powerful homer in the sixth inning sealed the victory for the Lady Warriors.

Janci Aube earned the win for the Lady Warriors, pitching four and one-third innings, conceding zero hits and two runs (none earned), while striking out three and walking five. Brylie D. took the loss for the Seahawks, allowing seven earned runs on 14 hits over seven innings, with five strikeouts and two walks. Sarah Grace Jones and Emma Rankin pitched shutout innings in relief for the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Warriors' offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing 14 hits in the game. Romero and Jones led the charge with three hits each, hitting back-to-back in the lineup. Lauren Dunbar, Bryan, and Jenna Chamblee also contributed multiple hits. Additionally, the Lady Warriors executed one double play defensively.
