Lady Warriors Get Past Iowa Western!

In a hard-fought battle on Friday, the East Central Community College Lady Warriors built a commanding 5-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 9-7 victory over Iowa Western.

Iowa Western started strong, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning with #7 doubling and #14 singling, each bringing in a run. However, the Lady Warriors quickly responded, taking the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning with a clutch double by Lauren Dunbar.

Iowa Western tied the game in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of #24's single and #14's double. But the Lady Warriors surged ahead again in the bottom of the fifth inning as Dunbar walked and Jenna Chamblee was hit by a pitch, each scoring a run.

Pitcher Janci Aube earned the win for the Lady Warriors, pitching one and two-thirds innings in relief, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out two and walking three. Iowa Western's #12 took the loss, pitching one-third innings and allowing two runs on zero hits, with three walks and no strikeouts. Emily Collins started the game for the Lady Warriors, pitching four and two-thirds innings, giving up eight hits and four runs (three earned), while striking out three and walking two. Iowa Western's #16 started and pitched three innings, allowing four hits and four runs (three earned), with three strikeouts and two walks. Emma Rankin secured the save for the Lady Warriors.

Reagan Bryan and Catherine Stroud shone in the lineup, each collecting two hits while batting back-to-back. Dunbar played a pivotal role, leading the team with three runs batted in and two walks. The Lady Warriors demonstrated discipline at the plate, accumulating eight walks throughout the game.
