The Lady Warriors get back on track with a sweep of ranked MACCC Opponent

The Lady Warriors came into Friday's top-20 matchup against Northeast Mississippi Community College with a record of 21-7 overall and 7-3 in MACCC play. Head Coach Leigh White has had the Lady Warriors clicking on all cylinders this season. After a hot start in game one, the Lady Warriors would sweep the Lady Tigers in back-to-back run-rule contests. The Lady Warriors are now 23-7 overall on the season.

 

Game One 

 

East Central Community College Lady Warriors took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Kaitlyn Jones singled, bringing in one run, while Lauren Dunbar's homer to center field scored two more.

 

They furthered their advantage in the bottom of the second inning. Sophia Romero walked, Sarah Grace Jones singled, and Jones grounded out, each contributing one run.

 

In the bottom of the third inning, Reagan Bryan's double extended the Lady Warriors' lead to 7-0.

 

Emily Collins secured the win for East Central Community College Lady Warriors. The right-handed pitcher pitched six innings, allowing only one hit and no runs, striking out five and walking none. Rylee T took the loss for Northeast, surrendering seven runs on seven hits over three innings, with three strikeouts and four walks.

 

Bryan led the Lady Warriors with three hits in four at-bats from the leadoff position. Dunbar, Jones, and Jones each drove in two runs. Janci Aube led with two walks. The team demonstrated patience at the plate, tallying four walks in total. They also showed excellence defensively, committing zero errors. Jenna Chamblee had the most chances in the field with 11.

 

Caitlyn Carnathan led Northeast with one hit in two at-bats. Northeast displayed solid defense, committing no errors, with Annaliese R making the most plays with five.

Game Two 

 

East Central Community College Lady Warriors jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after a dropped third strike scored one run, and an error scored two runs.

 

East Central Community College Lady Warriors scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Anna Grace Shows singled, scoring one run; Jenna Chamblee doubled, scoring two runs; Reagan Bryan homered to left field, scoring two runs; and Kaitlyn Jones doubled, scoring one run.

Janci Aube earned the win for East Central Community College Lady Warriors. They gave up five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Ava Meeks took the loss for Northeast. They went four innings, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking one.

 

Emily Collins collected the save. Emma Rankin appeared in relief for East Central Community College Lady Warriors.

 

Shows led East Central Community College Lady Warriors with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.

 

Chamblee stole two bases, and the East Central Community College Lady Warriors stole five bases in the game. They also turned one double play. The Lady Warriors were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Sydney Phillips had the most chances in the field, with six.

Carnathan drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northeast with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day.

 

Next up for the Lady Warriors is a double-header against Gulf Coast on Wednesday in Decatur.
