Lady Warriors’ Season Ends in Hard-Fought Battle with Itawamba

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors saw their 2025 softball season come to a close Saturday night in a 5-4 loss to Itawamba Community College, but not without putting up a resilient final effort in the final frame.

Trailing 5-0 entering the final inning, the Lady Warriors rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh. Freshman utility player Kathryn Montz (Lafayette, La.) sparked the late-game push with a bases-clearing triple that brought East Central within a pair of runs. Sophomore Sophia Romero (Lafayette, La.) followed with an RBI single to make it 5-4.

Freshman infielder Madye Bath (Raymond, Miss.) and sophomore Kylee Raye DeWitt (Enterprise, Miss.) each recorded singles in the final frame to help fuel the rally. East Central totaled six hits on the day, with timely contributions from across the lineup.

In the circle, Macy Nordstrom (West Monroe, La.) and Manda Rie Leach (Newton, Miss.) combined to hold Itawamba scoreless in the final two innings, keeping the Lady Warriors within striking distance.
