The Lady Warriors of East Central Community College lost their first game of the season at home against the visiting Lawson State Cougars. The loss drops the Warriors to 9-1 in the early 23-24 basketball season.

Kyla Farmer scored the first basket for the Warriors off a Nikki Stanic assist. The Warriors got out to an early lead of 13-4 after a tough finish by Farmer. 

The Cougars fought back into the game, taking a 37-33 lead in the half after an offensive solid second quarter. 

In the third quarter, the Cougars opened the half with an offensive attack, leading by as many as 10 points. The Lady Warriors battled late in the quarter, shrinking the Cougars' lead to just 5 points.

Farmer led the way for the Lady Warriors offensively and on the boards with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Nikki Stanic also added 8 points and 7 rebounds. The Lady Warriors struggled from the floor as a team, shooting 27% from the field and 52% from the free throw line.
