Lady Warriors Grit Out Win at Home

The Lady Warriors outlasted the visiting Bulldogs of Hinds Community College to get their second conference win. The win pushes the Lady Warrior's record to 13-6.

Lexus Keyes made the first basket for the Warriors from a Miriam Prince assist. A few possessions later, Miriam Prince's quick hands caused a steal that she turned into an easy transition layup. Clementina Odom then scored an easy layup off an entry pass by Lexus Keyes. The Lady Warriors would take an 8-1 lead midway through the first period.

In the second quarter, it was more of the same as the Lady Warriors would continue to keep the Hinds Bulldogs at bay. Odom hit another easy layup in the low post off an assist from Lexus Keyes. On the next possession, Odom would find the basket again after attacking her defender in the low post, making the score 19-8 midway through the second quarter. Morgan Freeny nailed a three-pointer from a Prince assist late in the quarter. The Lady Warriors took a 24-15 lead into the half.

The Lady Warriors would never trail the rest of the contest. Keyes, Odom, and Prince led the offensive attack with 11, 10, and 8 points, respectively. They had a decisive advantage on the boards, with 20 offensive rebounds as a team.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Ittawamba Community College on Thursday, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30.
