The Lady Warriors won their opening-round game over Southern University Shreveport 85-71. Their hot play of late has put them on a five-game win streak.

Miriam Prince had an outstanding performance this Saturday, scoring a season-high 40 points on just 21 shot attempts from the field. The performance marked a career-high for the freshman out of Leake Academy. Lexus Keyes also posted a season-best 20 points. Kyla Farmer also added 12 points, shooting 5-6 from the floor and 2-4 at the stripe. The offensive explosion kept the Lady Warriors in front for most of the game. They also came to play defensively, blocking seven shots as a team and collecting five steals. Clementina Odom and Morgan Freeny both had three blocks in the contest.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Perkinston, MS, this upcoming Monday to take on the no. 1 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast at 5:30 PM.
