
The East Central Community College women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes of regulation play and 20 minutes of two overtimes, but could not find the net in a 0-0 draw with the Pearl River Community College Lady Wildcats Monday, Sept. 25.
In the men's action that followed, East Central got a penalty kick from sophomore defender Tyler White out of Madison-Ridgeland Academy in the 61st minute and held on for a 1-0 win over the Wildcats. Dylan Shoemaker from Forest got the shutout in goal for the Warriors, his second straight match without allowing a goal.
The matches were played at the soccer pitch on the PRCC campus in Poplarville.
The East Central women are now 2-3-1. Pearl River is 4-0-3.
The Warriors improved to 5-4-1, while Pearl River fell to 6-2.
The ECCC teams will play their first home matches since Sept. 8 when they host Meridian Community College Friday, Sept. 29, in Bailey Stadium on the campus in Decatur. The women play at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. The Warriors and Lady Warriors will then host Holmes Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the soccer pitch on campus.
