    The Jones College men’s and women’s basketball teams came into Brackeen-Wood Gym in Decatur with a combined record of 33-5 overall and 19-1 in MACJC South Division play, but each left with a blemish to their record as the East Central Community College Lady Warriors and Warriors both pulled upsets Monday, Feb. 11.

    After coming up on the short end of a lot of close basketball games of late, the East Central Community College Warriors finally won a close one with a 77-72 victory over the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves Thursday, Feb. 7. The East Central Lady Warriors dropped their second straight game in the opener 70-60 to the Lady Wolves.

    A desperation shot at the buzzer that bounced off the rim was all that kept the East Central Community College Warriors from handing the No. 9 ranked Pearl River Wildcats their first defeat of the season in basketball action Monday, Feb. 4. The ECCC Lady Warriors also fell, losing 61-56 to the PRCC Lady Wildcats at Marvin R. White Coliseum in Poplarville.

    The East Central Community College Lady Warriors avenged one of their three losses this season with a hard-fought 76-72 win over the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs in basketball action Thursday, Jan. 31, at Brackeen-Wood Gym on the ECCC campus in Decatur. In the men’s action, the Gulf Coast Bulldogs pulled out a 72-65 win over the Warriors.

    The East Central Community College men’s basketball team finally put an end to a five-game losing streak, while the ECCC women extended their winning streak to three games as the Warriors and Lady Warriors swept the visitors from Southwest Mississippi Community College in action Monday, Jan. 28, in Brackeen-Wood Gym in Decatur.
  • Lady Warriors Win Second Straight 77-44 at Hinds

    The East Central Community College Lady Warriors jumped on the Hinds Lady Bulldogs early and never let up in posting a 77-44 MACJC South Division win Thursday, Jan. 24, at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica. In the men’s action, a furious second-half comeback by the ECCC Warriors fell two points short as the Hinds Bulldogs picked up a 78-76 win.
  • Lady Warriors Snap 2-Game Skid With Win Over Meridian

    The East Central Community College Lady Warriors broke a two-game losing streak with a crucial 84-64 MACJC South Division win over the visiting Meridian Community College Lady Eagles Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Brackeen-Wood Gym in Decatur. In the nightcap, the ECCC Warriors dropped their fourth straight game in a 79-63 loss to the MCC Eagles.
  • No. 8 Jones Defeats Lady Warriors in South Division Game
    January 19, 2019
    A last-second jumper by Jones College’s Winceton Edwards sent the game to overtime and the Bobcats would eventually pull out a 71-69 win over the East Central Community College Warriors in basketball action Thursday, Jan. 17, in A.B. Howard Gymnasium in Ellisville. The No. 8 ranked Jones Lady Bobcats scored an 84-56 win over the ECCC Lady Warriors in the first game of the evening.

    Sophomore forward Sharan Turner scored seven of her game-high 17 points in overtime to power the East Central Community College Lady Warriors to a 75-67 win over the Pearl River Lady Wildcats in MACJC South Division basketball action Jan. 10 in Brackeen-Wood Gym in Decatur. The No. 17 ranked Pearl River men overpowered the Warriors in the second game with a 99-66 win.
